The Dolphins covered the cost of training for the football coaches prior to the beginning of spring football practices across South Florida. Forty-nine schools from across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties were represented. Klamath Community College is now offering a Wildland Fire Academy that will qualify job seekers for careers in wildland firefighting, according to a news release. The KCC Wildland Fire Academy begins May 9 and runs for two weeks. Students who complete the academy will be ready to seek work with wildland firefighting agencies and private contractors. Wildland firefighting agencies operate at federal, state and local levels. Instead of learning to treat cuts and burns, those who attend the all-day workshop will learn to give mental health first aid. According to Derrik Tollefson, director of the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology at USU, this is the first time a workshop of this type has been offered in Cache County.
